Archief Frank Swaelen

Scope and content

The archives of Frank Swaelen consist of two parts.
The general archives mainly refer to the organization and functioning of the CVP, the educational policy from the middle of the 1960s onwards and Swaelen’s chairmanship in the Senate. As for the CVP, files are present containing pieces of the administrative organs (congress, party offices – and executive committee) and the working parties, containing CVP programs (among others education, social matters) and documentation coming from the CVP fractions.

The separate part ‘educational policy’ contains various files related to the National School Pact Commission and the School Pact and its revision (student transport, rationalization and program education, pluralistic education, statute subsidized education and its staff and so on.). Furthermore, various documents on policy and opinions of the catholic education people in charge (among others pieces of the Contact Commission of the Catholic Education for the Revision of the School Pact) can also be found. The education of engineers and architects and the UIA establishment are special topics in the documents.

Finally, a documentation file is present for almost every political topic of importance during the 1980s (Budgets, recovery laws, national industrial sectors, media policy, state reform and so on.)
