From November 9 to 11, 2016, the Karl von Vogelsang Institute, together with Civitas, the Forum of Archives and Research on Christian Democracy, organized an international symposium on "The Opening of the East and the Fall of the Iron Curtain. The participants at this symposium came from the USA, UK, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the Benelux countries, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, the Baltic States, and Austria.
